The hull, deck, and mast of SY Letafet have been painted, and a new-generation Yanmar engine, radar, and chartplotter have been installed. The yacht has now been launched. The next steps include stepping the mast, renewing the standing rigging, fabricating the lazy bag and lazy jack systems, and replacing all running rigging. The sequence of tasks for these works is as follows:
Letafet – Mast and Rigging Work Sequence
1. Preparation for Mast Installation
Inspect and clean mast step and base fittings
Pull and label all internal cables (lights, antenna, radar, etc.)
Install masthead equipment (navigation light, VHF antenna, wind transducer, etc.)
Pre-install internal halyards and wires (if applicable)
2. Renewal of Standing Rigging
Measure and prepare new standing rigging wires (upper and lower shrouds, forestay, backstay)
Inspect all terminal fittings (toggles, turnbuckles, pins, etc.)
Step the mast using a crane
Align and secure the mast base and step plate
Attach standing rigging to chainplates on deck
Perform initial tensioning of shrouds and stays
3. Fabrication of Lazy Bag and Lazy Jack Systems
Take measurements according to mainsail dimensions
Select suitable UV-resistant marine fabric
Produce sewing, zipper, and attachment fittings
Install lazy jack halyards and blocks
Mount the lazy bag on the boom and perform fitting tests
4. Renewal of Running Rigging
Select new ropes (halyards, sheets, cunningham, reef, outhaul, etc.)
Measure rope lengths and prepare terminations
Lead halyards through the mast and deck organizers
Inspect and replace stoppers, winches, clutches, and blocks as necessary
Label ropes and perform functional tests
5. Final Adjustments and Tests
Measure and adjust mast rake and prebend
Final tensioning of standing rigging
Test all electrical systems (lights, radar, antenna, instruments)
Test operation of lazy bag and lazy jack systems
Fit and test sails (mainsail and genoa)
Conduct general inspection and sea trial
