We conduct tonnage measurement surveys for British-flagged yachts up to 24 meters in hull length under the Red Ensign Group flags. These include prominent maritime territories such as Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, British Virgin Islands (BVI), and the Cayman Islands.

Our IIMS-certified surveyors are authorized to carry out tonnage measurements fully compliant with MCA (UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency) standards.

Tonnage Measurement and Certification Process

Your yacht’s tonnage measurement officially determines its volume according to standards set by the MCA and IMO (International Maritime Organization). This certificate plays a vital role in registration, taxation, insurance, and port procedures.

• Preparation: Digital copies of the registration certificate, build certificate, and engine plate photos are sent to the surveyor in advance.

• Measurement: The yacht is measured either on land or while moored at a berth; the process typically takes 1–2 hours involving detailed assessments.

• Certification: The application is submitted to MCA on the same day, and the approved digital certificate is generally issued within 2–3 days by email.
