Yanmar 4JH4-TE is a special marine diesel engine that stands out with its superior performance, durability, and efficiency. The main reasons why this model is the only choice for SY Letafet are as follows:
Power and Performance: This engine, with 4 cylinders, a turbocharger, and a displacement of 1.995 litres, produces 75 horsepower and a maximum torque of 220 Nm. These values enable the yacht to cruise with high performance, offering both a fast and safe experience.
Compact and Lightweight Design: Weighing approximately 207 kg, the engine offers easy installation and use in limited yacht spaces due to its compact dimensions. Its lightweight construction improves the balance and manoeuvrability of the boat.
Fuel Efficiency and Durability: The Yanmar 4JH4-TE is optimised with a Bosch distributor-type VE pump and direct injection system. These systems reduce fuel consumption while providing long-lasting and reliable operational performance.
Advanced Cooling System: Equipped with a dual cooling system using fresh water and seawater. Thus, the engine operates safely without the risk of overheating even under different sea conditions.
Easy Maintenance and Spare Parts Availability: The widespread use and reliability of the Yanmar brand facilitate engine maintenance. Spare parts are easy to find, which is a significant advantage for long-term use.
Market Value and Reliability: Yanmar marine engines are known for their strong performance and robustness; this means high resale value and investment security for SY Letafet.
When all these advantages are combined, it was concluded that the Yanmar 4JH4-TE is unique and the only choice for SY Letafet. Since this engine is considered to operate in the best way on our yacht with its performance, durability, and economical operating costs, a refitted 2012 model Yanmar 4JH4-TE marine diesel engine has been installed on SY Letafet according to the manufacturer's instructions and vessel-specific requirements.
Installation: The installation included the precise alignment of the engine with the propeller shaft using a compatible ZF 30 M marine gear, secure mounting on flexible mounts to minimise vibration, and integration of the freshwater cooling system with the expansion tank. The exhaust system was fitted with an L-type mixing elbow, which is appropriate for the turbocharged engine configuration.
All electrical systems, including the 12V alternator, starter, and B20 control panel, were connected, ensuring proper insulation and reliable operation. Fuel lines and filters were carefully routed to prevent contamination and leaks. Mechanical throttle and gearshift controls were installed for smooth operation from the helm. Safety covers and secure battery wiring were completed according to specifications.
Post-installation, all alarms and monitoring systems were tested for full functionality. The installation complied with all technical, mechanical, and safety standards specified for the Yanmar 4JH4-TE and was tailored to the SY Letafet’s engine compartment dimensions and operational needs. The engine is now fully operational and ready to provide reliable performance for the vessel’s cruising requirements.
