Hallberg-Rassy 36 hulls were built between 1989 and 2003, with a total of 602 boats produced. Boats No. 1–256 (1989–1994) are classified as the Mark I, while boats No. 257–602 (1994–2003) are the Mark II. The Mark I has an overall length of 10.87 meters, whereas the Mark II measures 11.31 meters (approximately 37 feet).
SY Seyyah is a Hallberg-Rassy 36 Mark II, built in 2002 and carrying hull number 561. The Mark II features an extended transom with an integrated bathing platform and is 30 cm wider at the stern compared to the Mark I. The aft deck locker, previously raised above deck level on the Mark I, was redesigned to sit flush on the Mark II. The side decks and the aft cabin superstructure were both widened. These improvements provide the Mark II with more interior volume, increased storage, and wider berths in the aft cabin. The waterline length at rest, overall deck length, mast, keel, rudder, underwater profile, and engine configuration remained unchanged between the two versions.
The HR36 is considered a perfect mid-sized Bluewater cruiser—small enough to manage easily yet large enough to sail anywhere, anytime. Designed and built by experienced yachtsmen, it blends modern technology with traditional craftsmanship, offering both comfort and the elegant lines expected of a Hallberg-Rassy.
The interior layout is exceptionally well designed, providing excellent comfort and unobstructed movement throughout the boat. The strong mast support is integrated with the main bulkhead, not through the saloon table or sofa. The yacht also features a large forward-facing chart table with comfortable seating.
The yacht is offered for sale by its second owner. The inventory includes numerous navigational books and publications. The sails are in very good condition and are expected to remain serviceable for many more years. Overall, the vessel is in excellent shape and fully prepared for extended cruising or even circumnavigation. She will be handed over afloat and ready to sail.
SY Seyyah offers impressive performance for her class, thanks to the meticulous hull design by Germán Frers. Her moderate V-shaped sections provide a smooth motion at sea, often associated with larger yachts. HR36s have previously won their class in the ARC transatlantic rally, as well as several local races.
SY Seyyah is equipped with a Volvo Penta D2-55 engine, which underwent a comprehensive overhaul in November 2025, performed by Marlin Yachting. All procedures were completed professionally using appropriate parts and workshop standards. The overhaul included:
Removal and full workshop disassembly of the cylinder head
Surfacing of the head and grinding of valve seats (subcontracted)
Replacement of valves, guides, and valve stem seals
Inspection/replacement of valve springs, retainers, rocker arms, and lifters
Reassembly of the cylinder head with a new gasket and valve clearance adjustment
Complete routine engine service (engine oil, gearbox oil, filters, and belt replacement)
Sea water pump overhaul and hose inspection/replacement
Fresh water circulation pump, thermostat, and hose inspection/replacement
Fresh water-cooling system service and antifreeze renewal
Exhaust manifold and elbow cleaning/inspection, including elbow replacement
Repair of exhaust waterlock leaks and hose inspection/replacement
Injection pump overhaul (subcontracted)
Injector testing, pressure adjustment, and nozzle replacement
Overhaul of the starter motor and alternator, including cable and connection checks
Inspection/replacement of vibration mounts
Full cleaning, inspection, and touch-up painting
Engine commissioning and successful sea trial
This overhaul ensures that the engine is in excellent mechanical condition and ready for reliable cruising.
The yacht is currently moored at Marmaris Yacht Marina in Marmaris, Muğla, Turkey. She was hauled out of the water on March 6th, 2026, for pre-season maintenance works. Prospective buyers have the opportunity to inspect the hull and underwater parts of the vessel while she is out of the water, subject to prior appointment. Boat viewings are available on weekdays during regular working hours. Please note that viewings are not available on Sundays. Kindly schedule your appointment at least three days in advance.
