Updated: Aug 30
The 44' Elvstrom & Jan Kiarulf Aluminum Blue Water Sailing Cruiser was built in 1987 by Oland Brothers & Henriques in Denmark. She has 3 slipping cabins, 1 head with a shower, a lower saloon including a kitchen and the upper saloon in the pilot house.
The design of the boat was done by Elvstrøm & Kjærulff Yacht Design. Paul Bert Elvstrøm was the world's world-famous Danish Sailor and Jan Kjaerulff was working with Sparkman & Stevens yacht architects from the USA and then in Denmark.
Paul Bert Elvstrøm (25 February 1928 – 7 December 2016) was a Danish yachtsman. He won four Olympic gold medals and twenty world titles in a range of classes including Snipe, Soling, Star, Flying Dutchman, Finn, 505, and 5.5 Meters. For his achievements, Elvstrøm was chosen as "Danish Sportsman of the Century. For more details, you can click the link shared below.
Jan Kjærulff (30 December 1943 – 25 August 2006) was a sailor from Denmark. He was born in Maglegård. Kjærulff represented his country at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Kiel. Kjærulff took 13th place in the Soling with Paul Elvstrøm as helmsman and Valdemar Bandolowski as fellow crew member. Kjærulff died in August 2006. He formed Elvstrøm & Kjærulff Yacht Design with Paul Elvstrøm. Kjærulff is credited with the design of many yachts. For more details, you can click the link shared below.
After the design and calculations were done, the aluminium hull and all metal work were done by the Oland Brothers where Paul Oland was a director of the Shipyard. You can see the comments about Paul Oland from famous USA boatbuilder Steve Dashew in the book Offshore Cruising Encyclopedia on page 603.
SY FYN was built at the same time as the famous SY Deerfoot II ( see picture on page 76 ) which looks almost the same as the SY FYN, except is bigger. The documents indicate that the builder referred to as Henriques was responsible for finalizing the woodworking and coordinating with the workers involved in the project. However, it is noted that the hull of the structure was constructed by Paul Oland. This suggests a division of labour where Henriques oversaw the woodworking aspects, while Oland specialized in the hull construction.
This yacht is notable for its robust construction and impressive sailing capabilities. She has 3 cabins and is registered under the Polish flag. She is an excellent aluminium blue water cruiser and ready to sail. The boat was in Danish waters until 1997, then transferred to Mediteranean by truck. If you are looking for a party boat, please ignore this advertisement.
The boat's EU VAT was paid when the boat was built. Considering the boat has sailed outside of the EU waters for a long time, the boat has to pay VAT once more time, ıf the owner is an EU citizen and would like to enter the EU waters again.
Please note that; Paul Oland has built two kinds of boats (almost similar to each other) with the designer Jan Kjaerulff. One of them is for Mr Steve Dashew (SY Deerfoot) and the other one is for Mr Henriques ( SY FYN). The potential buyer can get in contact with Paul Oland if necessary.
The boat is moored in Northern Cyprus. Appointments are required for the vessel to be demonstrated. Please make an appointment at least 1 week before your future visit. For more details, you can keep in touch with us.
