The Sun Odyssey 42DS boats have a modern, fluid design, a rare, timeless elegance, and the comfortable interior layout expected of a sailboat built for cruising, all while delivering a superior performance. The powerful hull impresses, not simply for its excellent sea performance but also its ease of handling due to its reinforced hull design and expertly designed sail plan.
Let yourself be seduced by the space and light. An abundance of natural light and fresh air fill the saloon, with its raised deckhouse and large portholes. Refreshing and relaxing, interior living spaces are comfortable whether day or night. For those unfamiliar with the Jeanneau name, it is one of if not the most prolific European boat builders enjoying a sizable share in the recreational boating market all over the globe. The Jeanneau Ship Yard was started in 1957 by Henri Jeanneau who built its first fiberglass sailboat boat in 1964. In 1970 Jeanneau introduced two models that essentially marked the start of Jeanneau as a volume production boat company.
From stem to stern, the 42 DS has lots of smart little features. The forward cabin boasts a well-thought-out and roomy hanging locker, with generous storage shelves included. Tanks are stashed under the V-berth. The laminated wood floor is both handsome and durable. There’s an abundance of handholds, as there should be in such a beamy boat, and they’re stylish as well.
The port and starboard settees will also work as excellent sea berths. In the aft owner’s stateroom, the 2 meters-wide bed (“berth” doesn’t do it justice) is something you won’t see on many 42-foot sailboats. By pulling a couple of pins at its base, the companionway-ladder module can be removed for excellent engine access (though it might be a bit of a challenge stashing the stairs, especially underway). The engine starter can be serviced via a watertight hatch in the central head.
Steering the boat from one of the two twin wheels was fun and satisfying. There’s a wealth of Harken hardware employed in the deck layout.
The boat has no charter history. She is for sale from the first owner with a Turkish Flag. VAT paid in Turkey. The boat has a satellite receiver which needs to be serviced. The solar panels(220W), Rollbar, David’s, and A brand new Quick Windlass are recently added to inventory by the current owner. The bottom of the boat was sanded and two coats of anti-fouling paint (Sea Jet 32) were applied after the Gelshield application on March 15th, 2025. The nuts and the studs of the keel are original and there is no rasty observed on them. Toilets sea cocks were renewed. The polishing process of the hull and the deck was planned for April 2025.
The boat is on the hard right now. She is a good opportunity who wants to see the bottom of the vessel until May 15th, 2025. She has a Yanmar 4JH4AE 39KW Yanmar diesel service which needs to be serviced right before the season. The Engine has only 2000 working hours on it. Please see the inventory shared below for more details.
The boat is located at Marmaris Yacht Marina. The boat is in good condition. The selling reason is the current owner would like to quit. She has a Turkish flag and VAT is paid in Turkey. She will be delivered on the sea. The boat demonstrations will be held during working hours of the day except Sundays. Appointments are needed to see the boat. Please make an appointment at least 3 (three) days before your future visit. Feel free to get in touch with us with further questions.
