1986 Baltic DP 42 For Sale - $85k

Updated: Sep 1, 2023

Frenzy II is a Baltic DP 42 (Doug Peterson Designer) built under Baltic Yachts Finland license in 1986 by Cennmarine, Capetown, South Africa.

One modification was done when the owner modified the keel for the shallower draft (from 2.44 mt to 1.85 mt). This was discussed with Doug Peterson and designed by O.H. Rogers, Naval Marine Architect, Tampa, FL. The modification consisted of, removing 60 cm from the existing keel and installing 225 kg additional, and molding 2 high-volume Delta wings which were through-bolted with 5 stainless rods. The result of the performance was a shallower draft and a stiffer performance to windward.

Frenzy II, originally Baltic Joy, was purchased by Mr. Dockery in 1986 who sailed her across the Atlantic to the US. The current owners purchased her in Stanford Connecticut in 1992. They sailed her to Tampa, Florida to outfit her for Circumnavigation. In 1995 they sailed her to Ft. Lauder Dale, Florida to continue outfitting and added a detachable inner Fore-stay. They reconfigured the #4 sail so it could be hanked on the inner fore-stay for heavy weather sailing. They made a sea trial with new additions to Frenzy II in the Bahamas.

June 6, 1997, they sailed out of Port Everglades, Ft. Lauder Dale, Florida to begin their Circumnavigation. After visiting Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, and Panama we traversed the Panama Canal in 1998 and then on to Costa Rica. In 1999 they headed from Costa Rica via Cocos Island to the Galapagos in March.

From the Galapagos, they crossed the Pacific Ocean to the Marquesas, Tuamotus, Tahaita, Moorea, Huahine, and Bora Bora. Then to Raratonga (Cook Islands), Nuie, Pago Pago (American Samoa), Western Samoa, Fiji, and then New Zealand. In New Zealand, they refitted. Painting exterior, rebuilt/servicing all winches, reupholstered all cushions down below, new Genoa, new Asymmetric Spinnaker, etc.

In 2001, they continued their adventure and sailed to Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and then to Australia. They made a side trip to Papua New Guinea exploring the Louis aides and Alatau area and then returned to Australia.

In 2005, They left the Brisbane area after extensive traveling inland and explored the Great Barrier Reef and over the top to Darwin. They joined the Sail Indonesia Rally. They visited Kupang, Alor, Flores, Rincha (Komodo National Park), Bali, Kalimantan, and Kumai, and Banyarmasin, in Indonesian Borneo. They headed to Nongsa Point and crossed to Singapore. Then, up the Malaccan Straits to Langkawi where the rally officially ended. From 2005 - 2010 they explored the waters of Thailand, Malaysia including the Tioman Islands, and Malaysian Borneo & Brunei.

In 2010, they left Phuket, Thailand to cross the Indian Ocean with stops in the Maldives, Salala, Oman, and Nishtun, Ras Sharma, Al Maculla, and Aden, Yemen. They entered the Red Sea at Bab El Mandib in March and we visited Masawa, Eritrea, Suakin, Sudan, Port Gotelib, Egypt, and numerous islands and anchorages to Hurghada, Egypt.

They traversed the Suez Canal at Port Suez, with a stop in Ismailia, and exited into the Med.

From 2010 – 2013, they explored Israel, and Cyprus and entered Turkey.

The yacht has been based in Marmaris, Turkey with an exploration of the Turkish Coast and Greek Islands of the Eastern Aegean. Some aspects of recent refitting beyond general maintenance in the last few years are repainting of the topsides with Awlgrip Paint, replacement of Perkins 4108 engine with Beta Marine 50 HP, rebuilt winches, new main sail, and many new instruments, etc.

The boat is for sale from the second owner. She is in good condition when you take into consideration of the boat's age. Demonstrations will be made during the working hours of the week. Appointments are needed to see the boat. Please make an appointment at least 3 days before your planned visit.
